Swahili as a language was never written by the indigenous people, so when it was written, it borrowed foreign scripts to do so, the two main scripts it borrowed were the Latin and Arabic. It has been very diificult to pick up the origin of Swahili because it has a lack amount of archaeological history, probably because it has been quite distant to the known world or for other reasons

The origin of Swahili is very interesting because firstly it is known as Kiswahili among it speakers. The word Kiswahili comes from the Arabic word  ”sahil,”which means boundary or coast. A lot of Swahili is made up of Arabic, this is because  East African coast has been in contact with the Arabs for more than 12 centuries. Mainly because of Omani traders going to Africa, where there has been a lot of contact with each other. The biggest outside influence into this language was Arabic. The first source of swahili being written was in 1711 which was written in Arabic in that time there was more connection with the Arabic and Persian nations. Later on it was colonized by the British. There are 3 theories about this, Arabic might be a old dialect of Arabic. People arguing this case, might say that this is because many of the people of East Africa have embraced Islam and have a history related with the Islamic culture, so this caused the language to spread rapidly through out the East coast strip. This Influence of Language, does not only affect the Swahili, it is probably about 70% of Somalian. This spread of Arabic doesn’t only affect the east coast strip. It is said to be the mother language of Africa. The whole northern Africa speaks
